Role of Shariah Scholars in Non-Banking Islamic Finance Industry

In partnership with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)

Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking, Finance & Takaful, in partnership with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), hosted a seminar titled “Role of Shariah Scholars in the Non-Banking Islamic Finance Industry” at Jamia tul Al-Kauthar, Islamabad.

The event featured distinguished speakers, including Sheikh Shabbir Hassan Maisami (Founder and Chairman of the Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking, Finance & Takaful and Member of the Shariah Advisory Committee, State Bank of Pakistan), Mr. Tariq Naseem (Head of the Islamic Finance Department, SECP), Mr. Syed Murtaza Abbas Naqvi (Joint Director, SECP), and Mr. Zahid Latif Khan (Chairman and CEO, ZLK Islamic Financial Services), who offered valuable insights on the pivotal role Shariah scholars play within the non-banking Islamic finance industry. The program was graciously hosted by Molana Syed Mazhar Abbas Zaidi, (Member Executive Committee, Al-Sadiq Institute of Islamic Banking, Finance & Takaful).

The seminar attracted a diverse audience, including Shariah scholars, industry professionals, academics, and students, all eager to explore the evolving landscape of Islamic finance. The event fostered discussions on future collaborations between Shariah scholars and regulatory bodies, emphasizing the importance of aligning industry practices with Shariah principles.
